About Acadia Charter Co.
Acadia Charter Company was started by two brothers Richard and Henry Helmke. Growing up in Nyack, NY on the Hudson River as boys the two spent their time boating and fishing. After moving to Maine later in life to start a family boat shop (Bass Harbor Boat Shop) the brothers continued their love of boating around Mount Desert Island.

Henry Helmke studied at Husson University and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Henry owns and operates Blue Water Industries, Quietside Snacks, Maine Tap Company, Blue Water Properties, Blue Water Club, and co-owns Acadia Charter Company.
Richard Helmke, studied at Maine Maritime Academy where he graduated and received a degree in small vessel operations and from there received his captain's license. Richard has spent the past few years working for a reputable tour company, where he learned the in and outs of operating and captaining a tour boat. With this experience, he has the knowledge of the Mount Desert Island area to give you the best possible boating experience. Whether you are out just for a quiet peaceful picnic boat ride or a tour of the area. Richard will make sure you have the best experience possible. Richard is a co-owner of Acadia Charter Company.
